Today is the 200th anniversary of the publication of Pride and Prejudice and to celebrate author Alyssa Goodnight is hosting an Anniversary Party Blog Hop. Blogs all over the world are celebrating our favorite book today.
We are participating over on Indie Jane as well with reviews and giveaways of both my and Nancy’s books. On the Indie Jane post I talk a bit about how my perspective of Pride and Prejudice has changed since writing a book about it.
I’m not going to write a long post, or tell you why I think Pride and Prejudice is so awesome. If you’ve clicked here from the hop you probably already agree with me that it’s awesome. I really just want to say thanks to Jane Austen. Thanks for writing such a great book. Thanks for creating such indelible characters. Thanks for writing such a strong, witty female heroine. The dedication of Attempting Elizabeth pretty much sums it up for me:
For Jane, thank you for writing stories that I want to jump into.
Let’s have a giveaway to celebrate the anniversary! I’ll give one lucky winner a copy of my book Attempting Elizabeth and this adorable bookmark made with pages from Pride and Prejudice by Patty Marq. She has more bookmarks like this and gorgeous P&P valentine’s day cards. Make sure to check out her etsy shop.
Happy Birthday!!! P & P
Why do I love it?? the wit, the romance…..I want to be Elizabeth (while I am really more Georgianna)…and fnd my Mr Darcy
These hops are always such fun…
Thanks for the chance to win….
Pride and Prejudice is smart, funny, romantic, witty, and I never get tired of reading it. Every time I read it, it gets me. I’m hooked and I want to read it again and again.
I love the richness of the whole story. Every character has depth, even if we aren’t privy to their whole story. They could all be real people struggling with relationships and responsibilities given the expectations of the time. But they are also timeless in the essence of who they are.
I love Pride and Prejudice because of the hot guys like Mr. Collins 😉
True story, Patty.
Patty stole my answer! lol
I love P&P for probably the same reasons everyone else does. The relatable characters, the humor, and the insights into human nature. And the romance of Mr Darcy becoming a better man, to please a woman worthy of being pleased.
I love P&P because loving it brought me to great friends like you.
Aw, thanks, Nancy ;D
I love P&P because it’s timeless! It is the book i can come back to timeand again! Romance, sisterhood, humor, drama– it has everything!
I agree!
Nice name, BTW. *Grin*
Short and sweet. What a fun giveaway! 🙂
for Darcy and Elizabeth
I love P&P because of the characters. I would love to fall in love with a gentleman like Mr Darcy and admire Elizabeth for her wit and intelligence.
Have you ever seen the web series “The Lizzie Bennet Diaries”?
Lauren, I am a huge Lizzie Bennett Diaries fangirl. Huge!
She’s not kidding, she texts me about any character tweets.
Um, who texted me today about Fitz and GiGi tweeting?!?!
I love all the romance and the characters are amazing.
It just has a little of everything in it.. romance, comedy, smart. I always get something new out of it every time I read it.
Even though I have read the book a ‘few’ times and seen the movies too many times to count…it still fills my heart to see how two people come around to loving one another! Through misunderstandings, distractions and disinformation, two couples still come together and love one another!
I love Jane Austen’s wit and humor, as well as the timelessness of the story!
